Hengyi Ye, born in China, began to study the piano at the age of five. She was accepted into the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2010, studying with Professor Jian Li and Professor Zhe Tang. Hengyi earned her Bachelor Degree from The Juilliard School, studying with Dr. Matti Raekallio. Hengyi has been studying with Dr. Marc Silverman at Manhattan School of music since 2020. She is now a DMA candidate at Manhattan School of Music.

In 2013, Hengyi won the International Irmler Piano Competition which offered her a contract to become concert pianist of Irmler Piano. Since then, she has been giving solo recitals around China hosted by Irmler Piano. In the same year, she won the first prize in Hong kong International Chopin Competition. Two years later, she won the Pearl River Piano Competition as the youngest contestant in the competition. In 2015, was chosen as the most outstanding student in Xiamen International Master Class and had the opportunity to perform with the Xiamen symphony orchestra. In 2019, she won the third prize in the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition.
